Free tools / Meta Tag Checker
Meta tag checker
Enter a page to see its title and meta description lengths, a preview of how it appears in Google, and whether its Open Graph, Twitter card, canonical and indexing tags are set. These tags decide what people see before they click, in search results and when your link is shared.
Questions
How long should a title tag be?
Aim for about 30–60 characters. Shorter titles waste space you could rank for; longer ones get cut off in Google with an ellipsis.
How long should a meta description be?
About 70–160 characters. Google may rewrite it, but a clear, specific description that matches the page usually gets shown and improves click-through.
What are Open Graph tags?
Tags like og:title and og:image that control the preview card when your link is shared on WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Facebook and most chat apps. Without them, shared links look bare and get fewer clicks.
